Click tracking shows you who followed the links in a mailing, so you can see whether it actually landed. It’s also a neat way to gather a quick response: add a ‘yes’, ‘probably’ and ‘no’ link for an event and you’ll see who clicked what.
Adding click tracking to a mailing
-
Start your mailing with an HTML template; plain text emails can’t track clicks. (See how to create a mailing template.)
-
Write your message, then add your links: highlight the text or image, click the link button on the toolbar, and choose where it points.
-
Click ‘Click Tracking’ on the toolbar. You’ll see a list of every link in your message.
-
Set tracking to ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for each link, or choose ‘All’ to track the lot.
-
Go back to your message and send it as normal.
Good to know
-
To see the results, open the mailing in your sent items. Each tracked link shows how many people clicked, and the details show who clicked and when, with tasks to follow up, so you could email everyone who clicked ‘yes’ with the next update.
-
Clicks can’t be tracked for anyone who has images switched off in their email, so treat the numbers as a good guide rather than a perfect count.
