The Mailing area lets you email your members and contacts, with consent built in so you only reach people who’ve agreed to hear from you. This guide walks through sending a mailing from start to finish.
Sending a mailing
Read this before you send
A mailing can’t be unsent once it goes out. Send yourself a test first, and check who’s in your recipient list. Hubb sends by consent by default, so anyone who hasn’t consented, or has no email address, won’t receive it, and Hubb tells you how many that is before you send.
-
In the Mailing area, choose who to send to. You can pick a group (such as a newsletter sign-up group), your main member database, or several at once, then start a new mailing.
-
Choose who the email comes from, and set a reply-to address so replies reach the right person.
-
Add a subject line.
-
Pick a template, for example the standard template or the newsletter template, then edit the content to say what you need.
-
Send yourself a test first, so you can check how it looks on a computer and on a phone before it reaches anyone else.
-
When you’re happy, move on to send it. You can send it now, schedule it for a later date and time, or save it as a draft to finish later.
Good to know
-
Sending by consent is the default, so people who haven’t opted in aren’t emailed. Hubb tells you before it goes out how many won’t receive it, whether that’s down to consent or a missing email address.
-
Smaller mailings go straight away; larger ones can be scheduled to send at a later date and time.
-
Every mailing you save is kept, so you can check or reuse it later, and you can see who clicked your links if you switch on click tracking before sending.
