If you hire out your rooms, showing their availability on your website answers the first question every enquirer has before they get in touch. Hubb does this with a resource calendar you can place on any page, and you control exactly which resources appear in it.
Showing availability on a page
-
First, choose which resources to show. Log in to your web office, open the Resources area and click a resource, such as your main hall.
-
In the resource’s settings, tick ‘Visible in website availability calendar’. Repeat for each resource you want visible; the calendar only shows resources with this ticked, and the module’s own settings remind you of that on-screen.
-
Now put the calendar on a page: open the page in the editor, click where the calendar should go, select the ‘Module’ icon on the toolbar and choose ‘Resource Calendar’ from the Lists and Feeds category. Our module guide covers adding modules generally.
-
In the module’s settings, choose what ‘Show bookings for:’ covers: all visible resources, all visible resources from a folder (with an option to include sub-folders), or a single resource. ‘Show bookings from:’ sets whether it opens on the current month or a specific one, and you can show navigation controls so visitors can change the month and display format.
-
Save and check the page on your live site: visitors see when the rooms are free and busy.
Good to know
-
Show rooms rather than every last table and cable: our own demo site’s ‘Book Our Venue’ page shows the availability of rooms only, which keeps the calendar readable.
-
The calendar shows availability, not details, so what a hirer sees is simply whether a slot is taken.
-
Pair the calendar with a form on the same page so people can send an enquiry the moment they spot a free slot.
-
Setting up the resources themselves, including this availability option, is walked through with screenshots in Adding folders and resources.
