How to set up early-bird or time-limited pricing

Early-bird tickets, and any price that changes on a set date, work a little differently in Hubb. There’s no setting that changes a price automatically on a given day, so instead you build each rate as its own choice and switch which one is on show as your deadlines pass. It’s reliable, and it keeps a tidy record of who booked at each rate. Discounts won’t do it on their own, because they’re based on who’s booking rather than when.

Setting up your rates

1. Open the payment group’s settings and go to the Delegate Choices tab. In your tickets option, create one choice for each rate you’ll offer: a three-stage early bird is three choices per ticket type, such as an adult ticket at the earliest, middle and standard prices.
2. For each choice, tick ‘Affects price’, choose ‘Fixed’ and enter the amount against your payment plan.
3. Set the rate that’s live now to ‘Unselected by default’ so people can book it, and every other rate to ‘Hidden’, so it’s built and ready but out of view.
4. Name each choice clearly; the name is what your bookers see, and including the deadline helps. Then click ‘Save’.

Switching over on the day

1. Change the rate that’s just ended to ‘Hidden’.
2. Change the next rate to ‘Unselected by default’.
3. Click ‘Save’.

Good to know

• You get a clear breakdown: each rate is its own choice, so your reports show exactly how many booked at each price.
• There’s a simpler version: keep one choice per ticket type and just edit its price at each deadline. It’s the same switch on the day, but you lose the per-rate breakdown.
