Why isn't my recording showing?

You’ve uploaded a recording, but it’s not on the sermons page, or someone in the congregation can’t see it. It’s nearly always one of the checks below, starting with the most common by far.

Working through the checks

  1. Check it’s published. This is the number one cause: uploads start life as drafts, and a draft recording never appears on the site. In the web office, find the recording on the group’s Media tab and look for the orange draft tag. If it’s there, publish it.
  2. Check the recording’s details are complete, especially the title and date; the sermons page orders by date, so a wrong date can bury a recording somewhere unexpected.
  3. Check the visibility. Recordings follow their group’s access setting, so a recording in a members-only group won’t show for visitors. Compare what you see logged in with a logged-out (or private) browser window.
  4. Check the group. If a page lists media from one group and the recording lives in another, it won’t appear there; check where the page’s media list module draws from.
  5. If you’re using sermon series, check the recording is filed in a series; a series page shows what’s in its series, and the archive holds the full date-ordered list.

Good to know

  • A published recording appears on the sermons page immediately; there’s no delay to wait out, so if it’s not there, one of the checks above is the reason.
  • Still stuck after all five? Raise a ticket with the recording’s name and where you expected to see it, and we’ll take a look.
