How to use tags

Tags are keywords you attach to content, a bit like labels on a folder. Tag an article ‘youth’ and it links up with every other page, event or recording carrying the same tag, which helps visitors find related things across your site.

Adding tags to an article

  1. Log in to your web office, select the group that holds the article, open the Documents tab and click the article’s title.
  2. Open the Properties tab and find the ‘Tags’ box.
  3. Type a keyword. As you type, matching tags already used on your site appear, and reusing one of those is better than creating a near-duplicate.
  4. Add as many tags as genuinely fit the content. To remove one, click the cross next to it.
  5. Click ‘Save’.

Good to know

  • Tags appear at the bottom of the article on your site and link through to other content with the same tag.
  • Your site’s search finds tags too, so tagging well makes content easier to discover.
  • Articles aren’t the only thing you can tag: events, images, recordings and uploaded files all take tags in the same way.
  • A few consistent tags beat dozens of one-offs. Agree a short list with whoever else edits the site and stick to it.
