How to add your email to your computer or phone

You can add your church email to the mail app you already use, like Outlook, Apple Mail or your phone’s built-in app. In your app, choose the option to add an account, pick IMAP when asked, and enter the settings below. Webmail keeps working alongside it.

Which to choose: IMAP or POP

IMAP keeps your email on the server, so your inbox looks the same on every device. POP downloads messages to one device. For almost everyone, IMAP is the right choice, especially if you check email on both a computer and a phone. Whichever you pick, sending always uses the SMTP settings at the bottom.

IMAP (receiving, recommended)

  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your mailbox password
  • Hostname or incoming mail server: imap.qboxmail.com
  • Port: 993
  • Connection security: TLS (or try SSL if this doesn’t work)

POP (receiving, alternative)

  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your mailbox password
  • Hostname or incoming mail server: pop.qboxmail.com
  • Port: 995
  • Connection security: TLS

SMTP (sending)

  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your mailbox password
  • Outgoing email server: smtp.qboxmail.com
  • Port: 465 (in case of problems, try port 25 or 587 with the STARTTLS option)
  • Connection security: SSL

Good to know

  • Your username is always your full email address, not just the part before the @.
  • If you haven’t logged in to webmail yet, do that first: your first login sets your permanent password, and your mail app needs that password, not the temporary one. See How to log in and use webmail.
  • If your app won’t connect, double-check every setting against the tables above before anything else; a single wrong character in the server name is the usual culprit.
