Before you can give someone permissions to help run your Hubb site, they need to exist in your member database with a login. This guide walks you through creating their profile and getting their login details sent out. It only takes a couple of minutes, and they can fill in the rest of their own details once they’re in.
Adding a new person
-
Log in to your web office and select your top group, then open the Members tab.
-
Click ‘Tasks’ and choose ‘Create a New User’. (You can also hover over the ‘+’ icon at the bottom right of the screen and click ‘Add New User’; both open the same wizard.)
-
Enter their title, first name and surname, then click ‘Next’.
-
You can add their address here, but it’s fine to leave it blank and let them add it themselves later. Scroll down and click ‘Next’.
-
Turn on login access for their account, and add their email address. This is the important step: without these two, they won’t be able to sign in.
-
If you like, add any other details such as gender or age category, and tick the consent boxes with an admin note recording that they’ve agreed to their data being added. Do make sure you actually have their permission first.
-
Scroll to the bottom and click ‘Next’ to review what you’ve entered. You’ll see a notice confirming that a login name and a link to set a password will be sent to them by email.
-
Click ‘Finish’. Their account is created, the email goes out, and they’ll appear in your member database.
Good to know
-
A new account has no permissions, so the person can’t see or change anything in your web office yet. When you’re ready, see the guides in this section on granting Site Manager, Site Settings and Resources permissions.
-
You only need their name and email address to get started. Everything else they can fill in themselves once they log in, which saves you typing and keeps their details accurate.
-
If the password email doesn’t arrive, ask them to check their spam folder first, and double-check the email address on their profile.
-
It’s worth a quick read of An Introduction to Permissions first, so you grant access at the right level from day one.
