Hubb Processing is our online giving and payments service: people give or pay on your website, and the money lands in your church’s bank account. Setting it up means verifying your church’s identity (the same checks any payment provider must run), and this guide takes you through it.
Setting up Hubb Processing
Read this before you start
Verification is strict about matching. Have ready, for one or two people with real authority in your church (a vicar, treasurer or senior staff member): photo ID (passport or driving licence) and a separate proof of address (utility bill or bank statement) dated within the last six months. The names and addresses you type in must match those documents exactly, or verification will fail.
-
Make sure you hold the Payment Processor Admin permission, then go to Site Settings, then Finance, then Payment Processing, and click the ‘+’ button to add an account.
-
Name the account (your church or website name is fine; if you’ll run several accounts paying into different bank accounts, name each clearly, because your payment groups pick a processor by name) and choose Hubb Processing from the payment processor dropdown.
-
Fill in the account details, tick to agree to the terms, and click ‘Create Account’, then read the on-screen instructions carefully before continuing.
-
Enter your organisation’s details. If you’re asked for a Companies House number and don’t have one, use your charity number padded with leading zeroes to eight digits (charity number 12345 becomes 00012345); with neither, enter eight zeroes.
-
Add your key account holder (the person whose documents you prepared), making sure their address matches their documents, and leave the bottom two tick boxes blank. You can continue past business ownership without adding anyone, then add your directors and executives.
-
Verify identities: upload any requested organisation document, then click ‘Update’ on your key contact, check their details, choose ‘Verify now’ under ID Verification, and upload their ID (and, if asked, their proof of address).
-
Add the bank account your funds should be paid into: pick the country, then fill in the currency, sort code, account number and account name, and click ‘Add account’.
-
Check back in a day or so. If anything needs attention you’ll see a highlighted box with links to update documents; once everything’s verified, you’re live.
Good to know
-
You don’t have to wait for verification to keep building; you can set up your giving pages straight away, and any money taken is simply held until the account verifies.
-
Each day’s transactions are batched together, and funds reach your bank about seven days later, with a full breakdown in the Finance area of your web office.
-
If your giving page already existed before this account, point it at the new processor: open the payment group’s advanced options and choose the account under its payment scheme.
-
Verification runs on Stripe, which doesn’t support every country; if your church is outside the UK, raise a support ticket and we’ll confirm availability.
