Good images make a church website feel alive, and in Hubb they all live in one place: the Media tab of your groups. This guide covers getting images uploaded, organised and named well.
Uploading images
-
Log in to your web office and select the group the images belong to, such as the youth group for youth photos. Keeping images in the right group makes them far easier to find later.
-
Open the Media tab. You’ll see the images, documents and recordings already in this group.
-
Click the upload area and choose the images from your computer, or simply drag them into the middle of the screen. They upload automatically.
-
Click an uploaded image to open its properties, and give it a clear title that describes what’s in the picture.
-
If a group collects a lot of images, use the ‘create a media folder’ task on the Media tab to keep them organised.
Good to know
-
The image title does double duty as the alt text: it’s read out to people using screen readers and used by search engines to understand the image, so a descriptive title genuinely helps both accessibility and how your site ranks.
-
Make sure you have permission to use every image you upload. Photos copied from other websites are usually under copyright; licence-free image sites are a safer source when you don’t have your own.
-
If the Media tab isn’t showing, you don’t have the documents and media permission on that group; your site administrator can grant it.
-
You can also upload while adding an image to a page: the media browser accepts drag and drop too.
