How to feature events in your church app

Your church app shows upcoming events automatically, and the ‘feature in the app’ option lets you decide which ones take the spotlight. It’s one tick box, but it changes how the whole list behaves, so it’s worth understanding before you use it.

Featuring an event in the app

1. Log in to your web office, select the group that holds the event, open the Events tab and click the event.
2. Scroll to the Advanced area at the bottom of the event’s details.
3. Tick ‘Feature in the app’.
4. Save, then check the events area of your app.

Good to know

• Here’s the behaviour that catches people out: with nothing featured, the app shows the next five upcoming events automatically. As soon as any event is featured, the app shows only featured events. So if you feature one, plan to feature a handful, or your app will spotlight a single event and nothing else.
• A summary image cropped to 800x400 pixels makes featured events look their best, since the app picks the image up in its feed.
• Recurring events don’t need featuring to appear; the automatic next-five list already includes them.
