If most of your events happen at the same few places, preset event locations save you typing the address every time and keep the maps on your calendar consistent. Set them up once and everyone who adds events can use them.
Setting up a preset location
-
Log in to your web office and click the ‘Settings’ cog at the left of the screen.
-
Go to ‘Events’ and then ‘Preset Event Locations’.
-
To create a new location, click the blue plus icon at the bottom right. To change an existing one, click its ‘Edit’ icon.
-
Give the location a name and enter its postcode.
-
Click ‘Verify postcode location’ to check the map pin lands in the right place. Postcodes cover an area, so the pin isn’t always spot on.
-
If it needs adjusting, click ‘Set Location on Map’, search for the postcode, then simply click the map where the pin should go. Switching to satellite view and zooming in makes it much easier to find your building.
-
Set the zoom level for the map people will see. 19 is the closest street view and shows the building itself; if that feels too tight when you check it later, anything from 15 to 18 works well.
-
Click ‘OK’, then ‘Save’.
Good to know
-
When anyone adds an event, your preset locations appear in the location list, alongside ‘Other’ for one-off venues and ‘None’ for events without a public location.
-
A precisely placed pin genuinely helps first-time visitors: church buildings are often set back from the road or share a postcode with neighbours.
-
Editing a preset location updates it for future use; it’s worth checking a recent event afterwards to see the map looks right.
