Sunday services, midweek groups, prayer meetings: most of a church calendar repeats. Setting these up as a recurring series means you create the event once and Hubb fills in the rest, and any future change can be made across the whole series in one go.
Setting up a recurring event
-
Log in to your web office, select the right group and open the Events tab.
-
Hover over the date of the first event and click the blue icon to create it.
-
Add the title and set the start and end times.
-
Tick the box to make this a recurring event. This has to happen now: a single event can’t be converted into a series after it’s created.
-
Choose how it repeats: weekly or monthly, how often (every week, every two weeks, and so on), and which day. Monthly events can repeat on a day of the week, such as the first Sunday of each month.
-
Set the date the series should run until.
-
Check the summary at the bottom of the recurrence settings; it describes the pattern in plain words, so it’s the quickest way to spot a mistake. Click ‘OK’.
-
Finish the rest of the event as normal (location, details, contact, link and image) and save.
Good to know
-
To change the recurrence pattern before saving, click the ‘Edit’ icon next to the recurrence settings.
-
Individual events in a series can still be edited on their own afterwards, so a one-off change of venue or time doesn’t break the pattern.
-
When the series reaches its end date, you don’t need to rebuild it: see our guide on extending a series of events.
-
Give the series a sensible end date, such as the end of term or the end of the year, rather than years ahead. It keeps your calendar accurate and gives you a natural prompt to review the details.
