How to add a new group

Groups are the building blocks of your site: every page and menu item sits inside one. This guide shows you how to add a new group, and what to check so it appears where you expect.

Adding a group

  1. Log in to your web office.
  2. In the group structure on the left, find the group you want your new group to sit inside and click it so it’s selected. This will be its parent.
  3. Open the group’s settings by clicking the settings cog near the top right of the web office. You’ll land on the Group Settings tab.
  4. Click the ‘Tasks’ button, near the top right, and choose ‘Create a sub-group below [group name]’ from the menu.
  5. Give your new group a name.
  6. Click ‘Create’. Hubb creates the group and takes you to its Group Settings, ready for you to set it up.

Good to know

  • A new group won’t show in your site’s menu until it has a published article. That’s deliberate: it keeps empty links out of your navigation.
  • Added the group but still can’t see it on the live site? Log out and back in. Hubb works out which groups you can see when you log in, then remembers that for the rest of your session.
  • You can change where a group sits at any time from the ‘Tasks’ menu. Use ‘Change display order’ to reorder it among its neighbours, or ‘Move’ to shift it under a different parent.
  • Who can see the group is set under Access on the Group Settings page. Worth a quick check if it’s only meant for certain people.
