How to delete a group

Groups are the building blocks of your site. Each one holds its own pages, members, events and media, so deleting a group removes all of that with it. This guide walks you through deleting a group, and a few things worth checking first.

Deleting a group

Read this before you delete

Deleting a group is permanent and can’t be undone. Everything inside it goes too, including any sub-groups and all of their pages, members, events, documents and images. If there’s anything you want to keep, move it to another group first.

  1. Log in to your web office.
  2. Find the group you want to delete. Use the group structure on the left to navigate to it, then click the group so it’s selected.
  3. Open the group’s settings by clicking the settings cog near the top right of the web office. You’ll land on the Group Settings tab.
  4. Click the ‘Tasks’ button, near the top right, and choose ‘Delete [group name] group (and all its sub-groups)’ from the menu.
  5. Hubb shows a summary of everything the deletion will remove, such as members, sub-groups, documents, images and events, with a note that it can’t be undone. Take a moment to read it.
  6. When you’re ready, click the red ‘Delete’ button at the bottom of the page, then confirm once more when Hubb asks.

Good to know

  • The summary Hubb shows before you delete lists exactly what will be removed, so it’s worth reading properly rather than clicking straight through.
  • If you only want to tidy up your menu, you may not need to delete anything: renaming a group or moving it elsewhere in your group structure keeps all of its content intact.
