Improving how your domain connects to Hubb

We’re improving how your website’s domain connects to Hubb, and we want to give you plenty of notice. There’s nothing for you to do right now – this is just a heads-up so you’re ready when the time comes.

What’s changing

At the moment your domain points to Hubb using a fixed IP address, and we’re moving to a more secure and reliable setup. The benefit to you is simple: if we ever move or upgrade our servers, your website keeps working, with nothing for you to change. We also won’t need to come back to you with settings to update in future, because we’ll be able to make those changes for you, safely and securely.

What we’ll ask you to do later

When we’re ready, we’ll be in touch with the exact steps. You’ll have two options.

Option 1: we manage your domain for you

You transfer your domain to us and we look after everything from then on. This is our honest advice if you want the most secure, best-supported setup. There’s a cost, starting from £1.50 a month, with full pricing at hubb.church/domains. It means:

  • No technical work for you. No jargon, and no worrying about getting the right details or timings – we take care of all of it.
  • A faster response if anything needs changing. We can act straight away to keep your site running, without waiting on you.
  • Email protection looked after. We set up the records that help stop your email being spoofed, and keep them configured correctly.
  • Future upgrades handled for you. As we improve our setup, we make any changes needed without involving you.

You keep full ownership of your domain name – we simply manage the settings on your behalf, and if you ever move away from Hubb we transfer it straight back to you.

Option 2: you make the change yourself

We’ll send clear instructions and you update the settings at your domain registrar. The change is straightforward, but we know anything that touches a domain can feel daunting, so we’ll talk you through it and we’re on hand if you get stuck.

What would help right now

So you’re ready when we get in touch, it’s worth checking two things.

  1. Where is your domain registered? This is the company you registered your domain name with – GoDaddy or 123 Reg, for example, or whoever set your website up originally.
  2. Can you log in and change its settings? If you’re not sure, now’s a good time to find the login details and confirm you have access.

We’ll share full details before anything needs to happen. If you’d already like us to take domain management off your hands, get in touch using the button below.
