Going Live
Switching your new website on means pointing your domain’s DNS records at our server. It can take a little while, so please get in touch at least a week before you’d like to go live.
Tell us before you change any records
Let us know which domain(s) you’re pointing at your site, and wait for the DNS settings we send back, before you change anything at your domain provider. Changing records before we’ve set things up at our end can take your website or email offline.
If you don’t have a domain name yet
We can register one for you and set it up so it’s correctly configured and linked to your website. We can also provide a domain-based email service, so have a look at the Hubb email page.
To go ahead, get in touch and let us know the domain name you’d like, along with your full name and address for the registration details. You’ll be registered as the legal owner, with Hubb listed as the admin, billing and technical contact. You can check what’s available at a domain provider such as fasthost.co.uk or 123-reg.co.uk. The cost depends on the domain ending, and there are some examples on our Hubb domain name page.
If you already have a domain name
Get in touch and let us know which domain(s) you’ll be pointing at your site. We’ll add them to the site host names section under Settings in the web office, then reply with the exact DNS settings to use.
You’ll then change one of the A records in your domain account to point to our IP address, add a CNAME for the www version, and add an SPF record for your email, all using the values we send you.
A note on SPF records for email
If you send email from your domain, we strongly recommend adding an SPF record so email providers can confirm your domain is allowed to send through our server. Our sending server is a:smtpweb.uk.endis.com, and we make sure that entry always points at whichever of our servers is handling your mail.
Add it alongside whatever else your domain manager or email provider recommends. If they don’t suggest anything in particular, a TXT record of v=spf1 mx a:smtpweb.uk.endis.com ~all is usually enough. There’s more on SPF, along with DKIM and DMARC, in our email authentication guide.

These settings apply to your whole domain, not to individual email addresses.

DNS changes can take a little time to take effect once they’re made, which is another reason to start a week or so ahead.
